Making long lasting friends is a skill that all entrepreneurs need to acquire. Here is a break down of the The Friendship Formula…
1) Make deeper connections
Always make it your priority to know more about the person you are trying to befriend. Ask questions that may lead you to finding more about that individual. Find out if you might have similar hobbies or you know people who have the same hobbies. The more ways you can connect the better it will be when it comes to doing business.
2) Disclose something valuable or personal to deepen the relationship
People only tell secrets to people they can trust. If you share something valuable or personal it will make the other person more closer to you.
3) Always look to give before you ask.
When people view you as someone coming to get something from them they will shy away from you. The opposite happens when people know you are a giver they will tend to want to be closer to you. It’s only after you made the connections and they trust you can you then ask.
4) Balance the needs of the individuals and the friendship to deepen the relationship
Make sure you balance your needs, your desires and your interests – but also meet the needs of the friendship.By balancing both, and being aware of the pull to do both, you’ll create a much stronger relationship.
5) Create a unique shared space within a group – and then ultimately create the group yourself
In networking events make connections and start engaging the people you would like to do business with. Ask questions to know more about them. If you are talking to an influential person in the event other people will tend to want to come and join you. Also engage them and make sure you follow up with them later. Ultimately with help of the influential person in the group or the people you met at the networking event you can start you own group. This is where you want to be…..having your own group with lots of friends
