How Do You Value Yourself

by ikom on January 19, 2010

Most people value themselves on their house, money in the bank, car(s) they drive or the person they are in a relationship with. All these factors are external and they do not give your true value. What happens if you loose your job, car or house….will your self value decrease?

Lets look at another example..If you have a new $10 bill and take it to the bank your bank account will increase by $10. What if the $10 bill was folded a couple of times before you took it to the bank will the value decrease? What if on your way to the bank the $10 bill fell off your pocket in a muddy puddle and you where able to retrieve it and took it to the bank..Did the value decrease?

All am saying is that we should value ourselves from within. What we are truly worth can only be measured from inside and not outside. What happens to us externally whether good or bad shouldn’t affect us internally. “The fountain of content must spring up in the mind, and he who hath so little knowledge of human nature as to seek happiness by changing anything but his own disposition, will waste his life in fruitless efforts and multiply the grief he proposes to remove.” Quote by Samuel Johnson.
