Having a blog is one of the best ways to market your business. Marketing is a key component for any business especially home based business where no one knows you exist. A well put together blog helps you tremendously. You should design your blog in such a way that there is a capture page to get the information of the visitors on your site. This can be accomplished by offering something for free which will be of value for everyone regardless of what they are currently involved in. Offering free training on a common topic will help you.
2. Branding yourself.
Having a blog with your name helps you brand yourself. This is vital because one of these days you will be famous and don’t want anyone using your name in “vain”. Imagine you succeed in your home business and someone takes your name and puts “trash” on that site which has your name! That by itself can “destroy” your brand because as we know perception is sometimes reality for most people. This happens when someone is looking you up online to know if you or your home business is legit.
3.Ownership.
Sometimes home based businesses have restrictions of what you can do or advertise online using their logo. By having your blog basically you don’t run into this issue because you are marketing yourself not the company. By posting good content you attract people to you. You can then market your business opportunity to the leads you get from your blog. Also having a blog helps you in case you want to promote other affiliates to the people that already know and trust you.

Great advice! Any more thoughts on how to get one’s blog noticed?
