Now it seems like ages where sales people could sell anything they wanted without thinking that someone might talk about their bad product. Sales and marketing was mainly one way…the companies were telling us what to buy, how to feel, where to go and so on. The Internet has changed the way we look at everything. Now it’s a two way and consumers can fight back. Some people are still not embracing the change but they will be left so far behind that they will be forced to close their doors.
Effective leadership is where people have chosen to follow you. People follow you because they sense that you are taking them in the right direction and have a vision. Most people think that leadership is about money…that’s only a small part. People with most followers were not considered “rich”…examples are the religious leaders.
How does this tie to marketing? To be an effective marketer you must be able to lead…by demonstrating how your product or service is helpful. People then have to decide for themselves if what you are selling is good for them. Once they like it they will refer other people to you….then as a leader you will be able to share that information. If you want to market in Social Media you Must demonstrate you are a leader by connecting with people and sharing insights with them. Lead by asking questions…..If you want to recruit someone to your business ask them if they are looking for an opportunity? If you are selling the product/service try to find out if they may be in need or show how it may add value to them.
No one wants to be sold. They want to know and feel it was their idea to buy the product, service or to join a business. If you are open and connect at a deeper level then you will have referrals which will lead to followers.
