We work hard and party hard lol! When you get your *ss on the dance floor, you move and feel the music… Nothing else matters except the beat and the person you are dancing with. You are totally present!
What if you could apply the same intense focus on your business? What if you could learn the Dance of Insight? “The dance of Insight is in four parts. It starts with the concept of establishing Permission, then there are three elements that go in a circular pattern: Placement, Questioning, and Clarifying.” David Rock.
When you learn the four elements you will be able to communicate with ease, people will listen to you and it will make you more Effective. Let’s begin with Permission. Have you ever been upset when someone just rudely interrupted your conversation or asked you to do something for them without considering what your were working on? If you want to become an Effective leader learn to ask permission first. Example…Do you have 5 minutes to talk or when you call someone ask them is this a good time to talk?
Placement is when you make know what your intentions are. Placement keeps the other person with you in the conversation and beside you on the journey. This is where you define the parameters. Example would be when you tell them how long you would like to talk to them and also what you are going to talk about. It takes care of the unknown facts like why you want to talk to them or when.
Learning to ask the right question is vital. As a leader you don’t want to be caught up in the drama or issues of a prospect, customer or employee. You should learn to stay out of the details. Your job is to help them think of solutions that they can apply to help solve their issues. Examples of the kind of questions you should ask are..How important is this issue to you or Do you feel you have enough resources to complete this task?
Make sure as leader you don’t Assume anything. You want to make sure that your team clearly understands what is expected from them.Clarification requires you to listen to people very intensely. Listen to what they are saying and how they are saying it. Ask probing questions if you feel there is doubt. When everyone knows what’s expected from them and how to accomplish the task you will have a very strong team!
Now that you have learnt the Dance of Insight….Come on tonight and we can dance some Reggae, R & B and Hip Hop!
To Your Success,
Flavian
